cultivating yin: A Taoist Retreat for body & mind
Friday May 28 to Monday May 31
Blue Mountain Retreat Center, 1347 Kitchel Hill Road, Barnet, VT

Encourage breath awareness and connection to your body at the retreat for cultivating yin energy. Within the stillness of longer-held Yin Yoga postures, uncover a deeper understanding of your body’s tension-holding patterns and how to begin unwinding. This happens slowly as the body unites with the mind in the unfolding of the present moment.
Take a break from your active lifestyle to enjoy luxuriating in restful postures that calm the breath and fill your body with radiant energy at Blue Mountain. |
WORKSHOPS
The Blue Mountain Spring Retreat practice workshops will consist of moving the body into deep sensation without approaching pain. In the process of discovery, listen, and allow surrender to happen. Most of all, learn to be compassionate and friendly toward this process.
After 20 minutes of light stretches, relax into 40 minutes of breath-focused yin postures followed by 20 minutes of Yang (active) postures mixed in to support the balance of the practice.

SACRED CHAKRAS
Focusing on the three treasures, this workshop explores the lower, middle and upper tan diens, or energy centers. For yin yoga and working with the body, beginners start with the lower center opposite the sacrum. Discover the relationship between the "sacrum" and the "sacred" as the root of prana energized by breath.

FIVE ELEMENTS FOR STANDING POSTURES
So often, standing postures are left out of yin practice. This sequencing workshop will show you how to build a class based on how the five elements act in nature. Starting with the softness of water, we will progress through each element before returning to earth, the most nurturing yin energy of all.
Participants will also have a chance to try Qigong yoga movements based on the five elements!
